Are you feeling stuck in your business, even though you’ve found some early success? It’s common for real estate agents to hit a plateau after their first few wins. Many start off eager to learn and grow, but somewhere along the way, they settle into a comfort zone. If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone—and you’re not stuck. Today, I want to talk about the one shift that could completely change your business: switching from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset.

What is a fixed mindset, and how does it hold you back? A fixed mindset shows up when you say things like, “I’m just not good at online leads,” or “I’m not a natural negotiator.” It keeps you from improving, and it limits your potential. I’ve seen this happen with many agents—early momentum slows down because they stop learning. They avoid practice, skip training, and assume success is just about personality or luck. But that’s not the case. The agents who continue to grow are the ones who keep asking questions, keep practicing, and keep learning.

How can a growth mindset change your career? A growth mindset is all about believing that you can improve your skills with effort and the right approach. It means being open to feedback, learning from others, and making time to practice—whether it’s your listing presentation, buyer consult, or negotiation strategy. It means looking at top agents in your market not with envy, but with curiosity. Instead of saying, “They’re just pushy,” a growth mindset asks, “What are they doing that’s working, and how can I learn from it?”

“The right mindset turns setbacks into lessons and competition into inspiration.”

What areas of your business are stuck? Marketing, lead generation, client presentations, handling market data—these are all places where fixed thinking can creep in. But once you start shifting your mindset, you’ll start seeing new opportunities. Growth comes when you lean in, stay curious, and take action.

If you want to level up this year, start by reading Mindset by Carol Dweck. It’s the book we’re reading in our office right now, and it’s had a huge impact on how I work and lead.

Growing and achieving success in real estate starts with having the right mindset.
